Apologies for the lull, it’s been quite the summer but didn’t want it to get too much further without updating you all on all the events fast approaching!
Cultural Night August 16th
This coming Sunday St George is taking their turn to host the Portland Pan Orthodox Young Adults for a fun night of dancing and food from different cultures. This is a potluck event, so please bring a dish from your culture to share. And bring your dancing shoes as we all get to learn these wonderful dances from various cultures. Have two left feet? Have no fear! This is for all of us to enjoy time together and learn some new moves. Event is 18+, and goes from 4-8pm.
Orthodox Movie Night August 28th
Friday August 28th Holy Trinity will be showing The Invisible Fight, a hilarious action comedy with heavy metal, kung-fu, and Orthodox monks; three great flavors that actually taste even greater together. If you can, brings snacks or drinks to share! Doors open at 6 with the show to start at 7pm.
Pan Orthodox Young Adults Retreat October 23-25th
We as young adults are in a phase of life where we need to find our place in parish life. Whether you’re new to the faith and have no idea where to start plugging in or whether you grew up in the church and are now realizing you need to figure out where you can step into the ministries of the church; we all need to find our place. To better help us, we will have a guest speaker (TBA) to aid us in answering these questions.
This retreat will be a blended balance of spiritual growth and church services with plenty of time for fellowship, games, dancing, campfires and fun! Our goal is to provide a space for attendees to enjoy in relaxed fellowship with Orthodox peers from around the PNW, to grow spiritually and help us all to better plug into our parishes.
The retreat will be happening at Camp Angelos Retreat Center in Corbett, OR along the Sandy River. The event will run Friday evening October 23- Sunday Afternoon October 25th, for ages 21-40. The cost of the retreat is $175/person (approx. $181 after PayPal fees) and includes 2 nights at Camp Angelos, 5 delicious meals, a guest speaker, clergy from around the Greater Portland Metro Area for services, and lots of fun and fellowship. We so hope to see you there!
